Winter storm warning in effect until 10 am pst Saturday for coast range of
northwest Oregon and the willapa hills,
The NWS in portland has issued a winter storm warning, which is in effect until
10 am pst Saturday. The snow advisory is no longer in effect.
Snow showers will continue today into Saturday, and be heavy at times.
Accumulations of 10 to 18 inches are possible in the coast range through
Saturday, with 5 to 10 inches in the coastal passes. From 6 to 12 inches are
possible in the willapa hills through Saturday. The snow level will lower to
near 1000 feet later today, and to near 500 feet tonight and early saturday,
before rising to near 1500 feet Saturday afternoon. The snow showers are
expected to decrease Saturday afternoon.
A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet, and ice are
expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will make travel
very hazardous or impossible.
